Bentonite deposits in China are distinguished by large reserves of mineral raw materials and their high quality. The raw materials mined in mountainous areas contain high-quality montmorillonite and are used to produce activated bleaching earth, which has low specific gravity, high adsorption properties, optimal granulometry, large surface area, high bleaching rate, low heavy metal content, stable chemical characteristics and good adaptability. During the production process, the feedstock is mixed with the required amount of flux and calcined at a temperature of 900-1200 °C, then treated with acid, resulting in activated bleaching earth, which can be used to bleach vegetable oils, as well as animal oils and fats. Activated bleaching earth has high decolorization power, removes pigments from animal and industrial oils, has a large active surface area and meets food industry standards.
